Back 2 Good

Setting: A high school party. A girl, Angela, has cheated on her boyfriend by sleeping with someone else, Mike, while she was drunk. This is the confrontation.

Angela walked around the house where the party was. She looked at all the people, looking for a few particular faces. She saw one of them almost immediately. She groaned inwardly as he came over to her.

"It’s nothing, it’s so normal," Mike started, grinning at her. "You just stand there I could say so much...but I don’t go there cuz I don’t want to.." he continued. Some of his friends came up behind him and started laughing. She fumed at him, not knowing what to say.

"I was thinking if you were lonely maybe we could leave here and no one would know..." he suggested. "At least not to the point that we would think so," he said softly.

"You asshole. You ruined my life!" she finally screamed back.

"Everyone here, knows everyone here is thinking about somebody else," Mike said, leading her into a remote corner of the room. "And it’s best if we all keep it under our heads," Mike said, rubbing her arm. She roughly shook his touch away and stormed off. She sat on the staircase and felt the tears come to her eyes.

"I couldn’t tell, if anyone here was feeling the way I do....but I’m lonely now, and I don’t know how to get it back to good..." she mumbled softly to herself.

Angela got up to get a drink. She got a can of beer and started downing it.

A little while later, a drunk Angela stumbled upon Mike, who was also drunk by this time. He smiled at her, and began laughing.

Angela was angry. "This don’t mean that, you own me, well, this ain’t no good, in fact it’s phony as hell!" she exclaimed. "But things worked out just like you wanted to," she said, a little more composed. . Mike was too drunk to fully digest what she was saying, and he continued laughing. She faced him, and being drunk, conveniently forgot all the hell he caused her. She smiled at him.

"If you see me out, you don’t know me...try to turn your head, try to give me some room, so I can figure out just what I’m going to do," she whispered. Mike understood what she was saying, and they both left the room they were in to find a more private place upstairs.

A little while later, Angela came downstairs, holding her head. Realizing she made the same mistake as before, she swore under her breath. Several guys, who had caught wind of what she had just done, smiled at her in such a way that she knew they wanted her for one reason.

"And everyone here, hates everyone here for doing just like they do!" she said out loud to no one in particular. She ran into several guys, who slyly smiled at her. She brushed past them, and saw some girls whispering and pointing to her. Feeling as if everyone was looking at her, which they were, she went into the bathroom and locked the door.

"It’s best if we all keep this quiet instead...and I couldn’t tell, why everyone here was doing me like they do...but I’m sorry now, and I don’t know how to get it back to good..." she said, crying.

A few minutes later, Angela came out of the bathroom. She saw Mike, who was getting high fives from his friends and congratulations on his latest achievement. Furious and still drunk, Angela stood up on a coffee table and looked around at the room filled with crowded people.

"Well everyone here, is wondering what it’s like to be with somebody else!" she screamed out. Everyone turned to look at her. The crowd suddenly became silent.

"Everyone here’s to blame, yeah well everyone here gets caught up in the pleasure of the pain...yeah well everyonehere hides shades of shame, yeah, but looking inside we’re the same, WE'RE THE SAME!" she yelled. She had everyone's attention at this point.

"And we’re all grown now," she said, gesturing with her right hand, which also held a beer. "But we don’t know how...to get it back to good..."

Angela jumped down from the table, and walked to where Mike was sitting with his friends. As she walked, a path was cleared for her.

"And everyone here, knows everyone here is thinking 'bout somebody else!" she exlaimed, pointing to people in the crowd, and then at Mike. Several eyes guiltily shifted from Angela to the floor.

"And it’s best if we all keep this under our heads..." she said, holding her head. She was getting a major headache. She noticed that the party seemed to have ended. A few people began leaving. Then a lot more.

"Yeah well I couldn’t tell, if anyone here was feeling the way I do..." she trailed off, realizing no one was left in the room but herself.

"But it’s over now, and I don’t know how, guess it’s over now...there’s no getting back to good..." she sighed.
