Matchbox Twenty N.Y.C. Appearance Postponed Due To Plane Crash

(11/12/01, 3 p.m. ET) -- The appearance of Matchbox Twenty guitarist Adam Gaynor and singer Rob Thomas at the Hard Rock Cafe in New York City on Monday (November 12) was postponed due to the crash of flight 587 near JFK airport.

The duo was to unveil the newest round of Hard Rock Cafe Signature Series T-shirts and pins. The proceeds raised by sales of the Matchbox Twenty T-shirts and pins are earmarked for the September 11 Relief Fund and the Twin Towers Fund. There was no word at press time as to when the event would be rescheduled.

The Hard Rock Cafe plans to move ahead with future events. On Wednesday (November 14), 10 congressmen are set to join Jeff "Skunk" Baxter of Doobie Brothers fame for an all-star rock concert at the Hard Rock Cafe in Washington D.C. The event is open to the public, and all monies raised are earmarked for the September 11 Fund. The show starts at 9 p.m. ET; admission is $10.
